- Abstract
- The information presented in this manual was developed to provide a guide on actions to be taken to minimize the immediate hazard impact of spills encountered in the bulk transportation of certain selected hazardous materials. In developing this guide our major objective was to provide quantitative and more useful information than the general instruction found in most safety manuals such as "Evacuate downwind areas," in the event of a spill of a volatile, toxic and/or flammable materials. The materials selected for our studies were based on the following criteria: 1. They are shipped in bulk; and, 2. They are gases or highly volatile liquids that are toxic and/or extremely flammable.
