- Abstract
- The composite concrete slab with profiled steel sheet is the type of composite system most frequently found in buildings today. The fire resistance of composite slabs is significant, even if no additional fire safety precautions are taken. If necessary the fire resistance can be increased to practically any desired load level by simple and reliable means. Until recently, however, the structural fire engineering design of composite slabs could only be based on fire resistance tests. This procedure is time consuming and expensive, and sometimes give rise to anomalies due to variation in test results.
