- Abstract
- Volcanized EPDM rubber is essentially non-polar and relatively inert, which makes the bonding of sheets to fabricate roof membranes exacting. A factor affecting seam performance that has not been addressed in research studies to date is the condition of the surface of aged EPDM rubber before bonding to it. This factor has importance, because as time passes, patches and splices to EPDM membranes in service may be needed.
