- Abstract
- A program of study and fire testing was conducted on high-piled (up to four pallets or approximately 21 ft high) palletized storge of simulated bottled distilled spirits in corrugated cartons for the purpose of developing information on which to base reliable automatic sprinkler protection for this type of storage. Two preliminary tests of the same configuration identified the burning characteristics of the products being tested. Four full-scale tests using distilled spirits in corrugated cartons in various storge fonfigurations were performed. The results of these tests will apply to fire protection for all distilled spirits. For example, whiskey (whisky), gin, vodka, brandy, rum, cordials, tequila, cocktails, neutral spirits, etc., up to 50 percent alcohol by volume.
