Abstract
The problem of optimal egress for occupants of a residential structure involved in a fire is considered in a dynamic programming framework. Sample results which feature multiple, time-dependent, objective functions for each occupant demonstrate the capabilities of the approach and the nature of the solutions it finds. As an application of the models, a fire risk analysis graph may be developed for any given building which can measure the effectsof a fire on occupants' egress paths.
