Abstract
Infratechnologies are tools used in the practice of science and technology. Formally, the term infratechnology denotes "practices and techniques, basic data, measurement methods, test methods, and measurement-related concepts which increase the productivity or efficiency of each phase of the R&D, production, and the market development stages of economic activity". Those focused on here are technologies for developing and applying information, standards, codes and quality assurance practices. These are vital to structural engineering practice, including activities in analysis, design, review of design, oversight of construction, performance investigation, and condition assessment. This paper considers the status and anticipated evolution of infratechnologies for structural engineering and commends them for attention in structural engineering research, education and practice.
