- Abstract
- This report represents the first product of four years of intensive planning and activity for the Construction Industry Institute. In contrast to our other research activities, the Benchmarking and Metrics activity is an ongoing and repetitious endeavor that will hopefully show trends as well as specific annual information. As a result, the definitions and procedures for this first data gathering and analysis have had intense scruntity and pre-testing. The enthussiasm has been high, but because of the length of the process, turnover of personnel has been constant. Indeed, only tow of the twenty or so of the current Benchmarking and Metrics Committee members were members of the committee at its initiaiton.
