- In Sweden, an analytical design of fire exposed load bearing structures and partitions is officially approved for a general practical application, as one alternative, since more than 10 years. The procedure constitutes a direct design method based on the temperature characteristics of the fully developed compartment fire as a function of the fire load density, the ventilation of the fire compartment and the thermal properties of the structures enclosing the fire compartment. The physical model for the design is shown summarily in Fig. 1 for a load bearing structure.
