- The fire-associated dangers of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are well known to the fire protection community. Penetrations through walls, floors, and ceilings for air ducts can reduce the natural fire resistive nature of these building components. Fire dampers in such penetrations can restore a significant level of fire resistance.
