Abstract
This paper discusses the principles of smoke control and the practical application of these principles to zoned smoke control systems. Zoned smoke control can use dedicated fans or the fans of a building's heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Application of HVAC systems that serve one or many smoke control zones are discussed. The paper discussed concerns with systems that only purge in an attempt to control smoke movement. Considerations of system activationa and acceptance testing are presented.
