Abstract
The RFIRES computer code was developed to predict the thermodynamic response of a room to imposed furniture item volatilization rates. Volatilization rate as a function of time for the primary burning item is described as a simple relation with probabilities attached to the coefficients in the volatilization rate equation. By running the code for different room arrangements, ignition locations and volatilization rate relations for the major burning item, each case attached a different probability of occurrence, probability curves can be developed for different significant occurrences (such as time to flashover). The basic computer code is described in Refs. 1, 2 and 3.
