- On Sunday, November 26, 1978, a fire that was most likely incendiary in origin occurred at the Holiday Inn-Northwest in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester with a population of 90,000. The fire resulted in the deaths of 10 occupants of the hotel and gained widespread media attention.
