Abstract
Burning rate of combustibles, temperatures of flame or hot plume, radiation from flame, velocity of hot flow and the compositions of combustion products are indispensable measuring items for fire research. In this paper, the present status and problems of various measurement techniques which have so far been used in studies on the fires of buildings since 1979 in Japan will be described.
