- The following is a report of the preliminary investigations into the York Minster fire. This article points out that some details may not be verified, or may be superseded, as a result of scientific tests cureently being undetaken, and has therefore asked Fire not to alter or cut this first account. The investigation commenced during the fire and evidence has been collated as a result of the examination of debris on site by fire brigade personnel, police and forensic scientists and the taking of statements from eye-witnesses including fire brigade personnel. Additional information has been obtained from tests conducted at Leeds University and data provided by the Meteorological Office Radar Research Laboratory.
