Abstract
The July 22-25, 1985, meeting of the National Fire Research Strategy Conference was held for the purpose of initiating the development of a coordinated fire research plan to achieve the reduction in fire losses in the United States in accord with the objectives of the Fire Prevention and Control Act of 1974. One hundred and seventeen experts from industry, government, academic, and professional societies were assigned to one of nine panels or workshops to discuss different application areas of fire research and the need research in the respective areas. The areas included: design and engineering; materials and products; investigation and litigation; regulation and risk; real time fire extinguishment; and fire prevention, safety and survival. One panel integrated the findings of the other panels and developed generalized conclusions. The nine panel reports and a list of attendees is included in these proceedings.
