Abstract
During the course of the recent European research programme CBUF, an improved procedure was developed for preparing and testing upholstered furniture composites in the Cone Calorimeter. Since preparation of composite samples can require operator judgement and skill, the procedure especially emphasised tighter control of preparation procedures, in order to achieve optimum reproducibility. The procedure has been published earlier. Here, the details are given for the round robin which was organised in order to test out this procedure and to develop the measures of repeatability and reproducibility. The results achieved indicate that with the new CBUF protocol the control of the process is very good. This is attested by the fact that the repeatability and reproducibility reported here is approximately on the same order as in an earlier Cone Calorimeter round robin reported for simple building materials which do not require any special preparatory steps.
