- Identical upholstered chairs have been burned in the Bulletin 133 room at the California Bureau of Home Furnishings, in the proposed ASTM room at NIST, and in the NIST/CFR Furniture calorimeter. These have been ignited both with the standard newspaper ignition source and with a gas burner. Total heat release rates were measured in these tests. In addition, the fabric, barrier layer and foam combinations used in these chairs have been tested in the Cone Calorimeter. The equivalence of the three types of full scale tests and the correlation of their results with the Cone Calorimeter will be discussed.
