Abstract
For a random material, fundamental models - models that quantitatively deal with fundamental microstructural elements - almost always end up being computer simulation models. Fundamental computer simulation models for cement-based materials are defined and their history reviewed. State-of-the-art results are presented and discussed, and future research is briefly outlined.
