Abstract
This is a User Guide for the computer code LAVENT (Link-Actuated VENTs) and an associated graphics code GRAPH. LAVENT has been developed to simulate the environment and the response of sprinkler links in compartment fires with draft curtains and fusible-link-actuated ceiling vents. The use of LAVENT is presented by a series of exercises in which the reader reviews and modifies a default input data file which describes vent and sprinkler actuation during fire growth in an array of wood pallets located in a curtained warehouse-type of configuration. Results of the default simulation are discussed. LAVENT is written in FORTRAN 77. The executable code operates on PC-compatible computers and requires a minimum of 252 kilobytes of memory. The reference to a Part 3 is incorrect. There will be no programmers guide.
