- Abstract
- The subject of this Report is the fire resistance investigation of a floor-ceiling assembly constructed of wood "I" shaped joists supporting a nominal 3/4 in. thick plywood floor, protected with a nominal 1/2 in. thick gypsum wallboard ceiling screw-attached to steel furring channels with nominal 1 in. thick mineral-wool sound attenuation batts above the ceiling. The wood "I" shaped joists consisted of structural wood flanges and structural plywood webs. The construction details of the test assembly are shown. The object of this; investigation was to establish a fire resistance Classification for the test assembly by means of a fire endurance test conducted in accordance with the Standard, Fire Tests Of Building Construction And Materials, UL 263 (ANSI A2.1, ASTM E119, NFPA 251). The fire test was supplemented by other tests and examinations designed to furnish information regarding the composition and physical properties of the material used in the test assembly and the practicability of handling and installing the materials.
