Abstract
The Nassau County Fire Service Academy (NCFSA) in Old Bethpage, N.Y. trains the volunteer firemen from the county's 71 departments in the basics and advanced techniques of structural firefighting, flammable and combustible liquid firefighting, hazardous materials procedures and rescue operations. Structural fire training is carried out principally in three buildings which simulate a two-story dwelling with basement, a row of taxpayer stores with basement, and a six-story tower. Each of the buildings is of brick and mortar exterior construction with internal refractory walls and steel-shutters, which open to simulate ventilated windows and doors.
