Abstract
Frequently it is desirable to estimate specific enclosure fire effects. Typical examples are temperature rise, radiant flux to target fuels, the quantity of smoke produced, the occurrence and time to flashover, and the minimum burning rate and fuel load to produce flashover. Also important for many analyses is the estimation of when fire protection devices such as heat detectors or automatic sprinklers will activate for specific fire conditions. Equations are available, based principally on experimental correlations, which permit the user to estimate these effects for enclosure fires.
