- Abstract
- In the late 1980s, more than 400 Americans lost their lives in multi-story hotel fires. As a result of those tragic deaths, the U.S. Congress passed "The Hotel and Motel Fire Safety Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-391)" a law designed to save lives and protect property by promoting fire and life safety in hotels, motels and other places of public accommodation.
