- Abstract
- The Sheffield incident focused the attention of the ship design and operational research communities on the problem of fire suppression and post fire combat readiness. It has long been realized that the contribution of fire damage on mission area assessment cannot be neglected but may be minimized through the selection of proper (fire suppressive) materials and through an effective fire fighting system.
