- Abstract
- The National Fire Protection Association's document, NFPA 1975 Standard on Station/Work Uniforms for Fire Fighters, was written to provide minimum performance requirements and test methods for materials, textiles, and components of general service/duty uniforms for fire fighters, and also includes recommendations for non-safety related appearance and durability items as well as considerations for specifying and purchasing. This report includes a general review of the standard, explains the requirements of the standard, provides answers to commonly asked questions about materials and test methods referred to in the standard, and suggests ways to use the recommendations contained in the appendix of the standard to procure the optimum garment for a specified end use application.
