Abstract
The objectives of this investigation were to gather combustion data on a raw shale pile and to monitor health and safety product gases. The internal temperatures and the gaseous products of a combusting raw oil shale pile on the surface at a Colorado oil shale mine were monitored from August 1979 to July 1980. The internal pile temperatures and gas concentration data collected were summarized, pictures were taken for the record, and observations were made to provide information ont he origin, occurence mode, progression, and paths of the combustione events.
