- Abstract
- The School Construction Systems Development Project in California and the Polaris Systems Development Project in the Department of Defense are discussed as background for the NBS - Public Buildings Service Building Systems Project. Distinction is made between a Building System, a physical thing and the Systems Approach, a methodology. The Project is concerned with a Federal Office Building for use by a Federal Tenant. Reasons for selecting this type of building for the Project rather than a hospital or general purpose scientific laboratories are given.
