Abstract
The Research on Instrumented Mannikin Program is a 15-month effort which will yield two instrumented mannikins for use in fire test of protective clothing and their associated data acquisition and data reduction systems. This report covers progress from 1 October to 31 October 1971. Primary accomplishments for this reporting period were: Task 2-Engineering Analysis: 1. design of sensor modules; 2. design of element connectors; 3. mannikin detail design; 4. data acquisition system refinement; 5. material and process experiments; 6. layout of special sensors; 7. design of special test equipment; 8. data reduction computer program analysis. Task 3-Fabrication and Assembly: 1. fabrication of test samples; 2. fabrication of sensor modules; 3. arm assembly fabrication; 4. fabrication of element connectors; 5. fabrication of special test equipment; Task 4-Test: 1. impact test of materials; Task 5-System Selection: 1. recommendation for program schedule and scope change. Initial evaluation of data acquisition system proposals; 2. Analysis of heat flux sensors; 3. Initial fabrication of sensor module materials; 4. Initial sensor layout.
