- Abstract
- A review of the literature will be presented on the behavior and consequences of liquid pool fires. The intention is to provide the safety engineer with useful information to assess the thermal hazard of large fires to structures and surroundings. An example representative of an offshore platform fire will be used to illustrate the merits and limitations of the state of the art. The scope of the review will include burning rate, heat transfer, flame height and compartment effects.
