- Abstract
- Risk is a natural constituent of construction projects. This report is an introduction to risk considerations for capital construction projects. The purpose of this work is to introduce the reader to current practices of risk management for construction. The report examines both theoretical and practical aspects of risk management. The overall goals of this report are fourfold: 1) To present a thorough and thoughtful review of the risk related literature; 2) To present a cogent definition of risk and define the characteristics of risky events; 3) To introduce typical methods of identifying risks; 4) To explain the features of risk analysis methods; 5) To present a paradigm for planning an appropriate risk management program.
