Abstract
This report discusses technical rescue technologies, and is intended to familiarize rescuers with technical rescue needs, equipment, and technological innovations. It also discusses rescue technology priorities, and makes recommendations about how technologies can be better used and shared. The report is divided into three sections: Technical Resuce Technology Needs Assessment; Technical Rescue Technology Assessment; and Priorties for Improving the Application of Rescue Technologies. Many different technologies are described in this report. In some cases, a product brand name is mentioned for descriptive purposes only because it is considered a generic name. This report does not endorse any particular product brand over another. The appendix contains a list of equipment manufacturers which supply some of the technologies discussed in the report, and to whom rescuers may turn for further information. Although many manufacturers are included in the list, it is only a partial list of the many manufactuers that exit.
