- Abstract
- Considerable advances in smoke control technology occurred in the last few decades. However, smoke control is just beginning to take its proper place as a fire protection tool. This paper provides an overview of this technology, including discussions of the fundamental principles, stairwell pressurization, zones smoke control, elevator smoke control, system activation and acceptance testing. In addition the problems of smoke purging are addressed.
