- Abstract
- This manual is about risk management. Admittedly, the term "risk management" can be applied to a wide range of functions and activities. Several special applications of risk management, however, are uniquely significant to organizations that, in the course of delivering emergency services to the public, cope with high risk situations as an integral component of their missions. Such organizations include: fire departments - rescue squads - emergency medical services - othe related organizations. Risk management calls for a multi-faceted approach that encompasses many elements, some of which are: safety - health - financial impact - loss control. The manual is designed as a comprehensive guide that helps fire and emergency service providers understand the concepts that form the foundation of risk management principles and practices.
