- Abstract
- ONLY ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH This report contains visual observations from fire tests in a tunnel. The tests were performed in a rock tunnel measuring 2.7 m wide, 3 m high and 100 m long. The aim was to investigate the influence of ventilation on the heat release rate for a number of different fuels. The fire tests show as slight difference between the degree of ventilation and heat release rate for pool fires whereas the difference for solid materials is more apparent. These results are in agreement with other investigations. Measurement of optical density and gas concentrations were performed for different fuels. The tests indicates that it is possible to correlate the gas concentrations and the optical density. a parameter for the type of fuel must be included. An extensive instrumentation was applied to enable later comparison with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The data will be presented in subsequent reports.
