- Abstract
- A full scale experiment was performed to measure the effects of a debris fire atop a basement shelter. The experiment utilized a two-story, concrete-block building, with the fire on the second floor and the first floor sealed to simulate a below-grade shelter. Eighty small holes, totalling 20 sq in., were drilled in the concrete second floor to approximate the effects of cracks, and provision was made to pressurize the shelter area.
