Abstract
This paper describes the work of the National Fire Protection Research Foundation's Project on Fire Risk. The objective of the project is to develop a quantiative method for predicting the expected life safety loss (or risk) associated with the use of new and existing products. "Product" is defined as an item capable of being evaluated by laboratory-scale fire preformance tests and therefore generally does not include building design features. Fire death is the measure of risk. [Later a computer fire model name was assigned: FRAMEworks.]
