- Abstract
- The remains of flammable liquids may be found in post-fire debris in places where they are protected from the flames and from the heat. Samples of fire debris suspected of containing accelerants must be transported to the laboratory in some kind of container. The most basic requirements are that the flammable liquid is retained and that it is protected from loss of traces of accelerants and protected from contamination. Several different kinds of containers have been tested: glass jars, paint cans and different plastic bags. The results of these tests show that Kapak bags are the preferable containers for use in Swedish arson investigations.
