- Abstract
- A methodology is presented for estimating fire damage urban targets from nuclear bursts. The program considers thermal ignitions, disruption fires, and fire spread. It derives fire VNs and computes fire damage versus ground range for a series of burst heights and a range of yields. It accounts for weapon characteristics, atmospheric conditions, and target details. Comparison is made with the consequences of historical urban fires, and the influences of uncertainty and variability are evaluated. Forty-one targets are examined in detail and vulnerability predictions generated.
