- Abstract
- For the measurement of general and protective properties of clothing materials a lot of tests exist. There are, however, many characteristics of protective clothing, which cannot be assessed by material measurements because they depend on the manufacturing of the complete clothing. Therefore the ready-made garment has to be tested. In the last few years a lot of manikin tests for protective clothing have been developed which allow testing of ready-made garments and which are, in contrast to tests with test subjects, much more reproducible and therefore less expensive. A great deal of attention has to be given to the validation of the manikin test methods.
